Greetings
Looking back I believe Eric and I were naive in our belief that community would
simply manifest and gather once given a location and the opportunity to be part
of something that could serve the greater good. Neither of us realized then
that ASP would be as huge an undertaking as it is proving to be. I’ve faced the
fact that until we hit Power Ball money will always be an issue. OK, so we do
what we can, when we can, with what we have.
There are several projects going on that don’t require any money at all but what
we do need is manpower. A number of these (retaining wall, replanting trees,
dragging & chipping brush, harvest & process the garden, packing up for winter,
et al) are just a matter of many hands make light work. The really big jobs
(Temple, Pavillion, bridges) require a group of people both for strength and
safety.
The question of “How to encourage people to get involved” has been on the table
since the idea of A Sacred Place began to manifest.
What we’re hoping will work, and want to try for a couple of months, is an
Energy Exchange. A Day of Play in exchange for a Day of Labor. People that come
up to lend a hand will receive an Energy Exchange Certificate at the end of the
day.
These certificates can be sent in with registrations and will be honored as
payment for one person to enjoy a single day of camping or a single day of entry
to Turning The Wheel events (send in 2 for a weekend, 3 for a three day event
etc). They will not expire and will be transferable if you choose to earn them
for someone else also. They’re strictly proof of barter and have no cash value;
but, like cash you don’t want to loose them.
Volunteer days/weekends will be scheduled for the 3rd weekend on the month. The work day will run from 10:00 – 4:00 followed by a pot
luck dinner and general get together after.
The next EED will be held on November 21 / 22
We will need an RSVP for those that plan on attending so we can decide if there
will be enough to work on that project or if we need to choose another. There
are things to do for all ability levels
Hoping to see you soon
